Trouble sleeping?

Sleep is more important for overall health than most people realize. Insufficient sleep and sleep quality has a correlation with serious health problems such as heart disease and obesity. Not only that, but a lack of quality sleep has been shown to negatively effect the sex lives of both men and women. If those reasons alone aren’t enough, sleep also has been shown to reduce the severity of chronic pain and injury over time. Quality sleep leaves us in a better mood which makes way to clearer thought and more prosperity in our lives.

Quality sleep helps you maintain healthy weight and,  conversely, lack of sleep is attributed to unhealthy weight gain. The hormone leptin is what makes us feel full. When you don’t get enough sleep, leptin levels decrease so, people who are tired are often more hungry. Moreover, they tend to crave high-fat and high-calorie foods specifically.

SO what do you do to assure you get enough quality sleep? If you’re like me, you’ve tried to over the counter sleep aids and while they may work, they leave us feeling groggy the next day and they’re packed with chemicals. Try these options instead:

  • Melatonin: one 5mg tablet of time release melatonin as bed time
  • Cortisol Regulator: follow dosing on bottle (at bedtime)
  • Pink Salt Rock Lamp: These help cleanse the air and the spectrum of light emitted helps your brain produce melatonin.
  • The Sleepy Brew: 2tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1tbsp raw honey, mixed in hot water.

Now go get the sleep you deserve and you can thank me later.
